Thankyou Dac for your advise
I will check out the website and just wonder onto forum and pick up bits of info
thankyou again
This is a really good website to research Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism:
http://thyroid.about.com/od/symptomsrisks/a/symptomsrisks.htm
At this point I think you would do better researching Hashi's, as your numbers are hypo and with the high antibodies it means autoimmune disease, thus Hashi's. On the site above there is a really good list of symptoms. It doesn't mention anything about the neuropathies that go along with it, but they really do. Extremities and face with tingling and numbness is quite common. All of us who have been through hypohell have experienced these.
With a TSH of 8 I would be asking for meds. That is high, especially considering the antibodies. Would want to start them now so that you can keep slowly increasing the dose to be where you need it. Regulating it is a slow process, so would start now if I was you. Being on some replacement hormone won't hurt you any, will only make you feel better.
Sorry about the not being able to get into the endo sooner. Guess provided health care has a lot of draw backs. Didn't know that. At least you will be able to get in. Here in the U.S. if you don't have insurance it is sometimes almost impossible to get a dr to see you. And here to get in to see an endo is usually months anyway, so guess that part is not much different.
If you have any more questions, post them and we'll answer them the best we can. Good luck and keep me posted.

Think some of your symptoms are straight menopause, but a lot of the symptoms are the same, so they are just doubled. Somebody else on here is hypo and in menopause. Can't remember at the moment who it is, but if you post a question about it am sure she will answer.
also forgot to mention I do suffer with depression as well and i do get very moody on the odd occassion
but still put this all down to menapause
Thankyou for your response DLA
In Melbourne if you dont have a private health insurance you have to wait for appointments with specialists but if you pay private health insurance you can get an appointment the next day with a specialist or there abouts
I just recieved a date of the 7/11/07 to see a endocrinoligist
Does hypothyroidism mean that my thyroid is dying
Im reading a lot of information but nothing is sinking into my brain Im getting confused with all these thyroid conditions graves and the rest of it
My doctor didnt say anything to me only that she thinks I am hypothyroidism and didnt explain anything other than my antibodies were extremely high
thyroglobin 500 normal 60 and thyroid peradose 4673 normal 60 and the tsh was 8 and the t4 and t3 normal
Im not sure what symptoms I am supposed to have because i am in menapause
I do have stiff fingers and going numb during the night also arthritis in fingers
I do get achy legs and I do feel the cold and i have hot flushes as well
I get slight head aches occassionally
I am very forgetful
my hair is a little dry and brittle
I always go the toilet about 4-5 times during the night which gives me the s%#ts
sometimes I am full of energy and other times just want to lay down and sleep
but most of these symptons you could put down to menapause
to tell the truth I didnt think my gp new how to explain it to me
what I am wondering is should I get my Gp to send me for an Ultra sound to take to the endo
or would this be one of the tests that the endo would do
thankyou
Hashimoto's is an autoimmune disease causing hypothyroidism. Can't help you about the u/s. Why are they making you wait b/c of no insurance? What does that have to do with when you get in? It usually takes a long time to get into endos, but don't know why having no insurance would make a difference.
If your dr doesn't think you need meds yet, you are probably okay without it. Do you have any idea what any of your levels are? If so post them for us and someone will help you decipher them.
