IF YOUR TSH IS .35, WHY WOULD YOUR PEROXIDASE AB CONTINUE TO CLIMB FROM 217 TO 234 IN A MONTH OR LESS

by billy81, Feb 28, 2009 09:41AM
RECENTLY THE DR. CANCELLED MY SHOULDER REPLACEMENT SURGERY DUE TO MY TSH BEING 7.869.  IN DEC OF 2008 IT WAS 2.00 ON JAN 19, 2009 IT WAS 7.869, THE DR. PUT ME ON 100MGC OF LEVOTHYROXIN (levothyroxine) AND PULLED ME OFF IT IN 7 DAYS, AT THAT TIME MY TSH WAS .34 AND MY PEROXIDASE WAS 217.5.  A WEEK LATER, MY TSH WAS 2.24 AND MY PEROXIDASE AB JUMPED TO 234.  WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PEROXIDASE AND WHY IS IT CONTINUING TO INCREASE?  PLEASE HELP  THE ORTHOPEDIC DR. WILL NOT OPERATE UNTIL MY FAMILY PHYSICIAN RELEASES ME AND HE WILL NOT DO SO UNTIL I SEE AN ENDOCRINOLIGIST.  THEY ARE GOING TO DO A FULL SHOULDER REPLACEMENT.  CAN YOU GIVE ME SOME ANSWERS

The increase of antibodies it isn't significant (217 to 237....), only means you have an autoimmune disease of your thyroid. You started medication (100 levothyroxin (levothyroxine)) with a TSH of 7.8,  a week later your TSH was 0.3, (means to much), you should have started with a lower dose and retested in 4-6 weeks. Yes you must see an ENDO and he is going to ask for new analyses then he will medicate you. So you have a long way to go....
