I'm freaking out...

Hi-

For the maybe a half hour or so I have been feeling warm. I am on 125 mcg of Synthroid for four days now. When I check my temp its around 99-99.5. I am 11 days postop.

Should I call Dr or am I just freaking out? I know when I get anxious as I am right now, I can feel myself getting hotter.

Can the meds do this to me? In my postop instructions it say to call after a week of a fever. Not sure what to do or if this is what I am just going to go through.

You can take tylenol or ibuprofen with the synthroid, just not at the same time. The thyroid gland actually regulates your body temp so that may be why you are feeling warm. I'm always freezing when I go hypo. Hope this helps.

I was told to do that as well. It fluctuates. I left a message for Dr to call in the morning. I didntthink the meds could regulate the body temp, but I'm sure it can.

I was told to call if temp reached 101. I agree its probably the meds, but a call to doctor won't hurt...

Yeah.. incision area looks good actually. No redness at all. My temp hasnt hit 100.0. Just 98.8-99.5. Fluctuates actually. Its all in my face too. every other part of the body is normal.

I was thinking the meds too. I will call tomorrow just to let him know.

I am not a Dr but can say that my doctor mentioned to call with a temp over something higher .. maybe 101 or something like that ... but you can always call and touch base to be certain.  The 125mcg of synthroid can do that, too, the warm feeling and the low grade temp is most likely from the stress to your body healing.  As long as the incision looks ok and nothing infected or bright red streaks or anything like that, then I'd put in a call to have a few mins tel.time.
