I'm home!

They released me this morning - with a huge calcium prescription!  It seems to fluctuate a lot, and I'm still getting tingles (mostly around the mouth / on the cheeks) but its not consistent - not right now anyway.  I still have three parathyroids (one was removed with the first surgery in April) so I hope and pray they come back to functioning!

'Thanks so much to KelDC for keeping you updated on my status.

I'd love to hear other's calcium issues stories; including levels initially and over time, symptoms, and current situation.

I have quickly scanned the board and see that Helsurf is doing well - yippee.  I hope the rest of you are doing okay as well.

I'm so tired. I'm going to rest.

Thanks for your friendship and support!

Despina

Great to hear you are back home. I've had calcium issues all the way through, since my TT in Dec 07. Tomorrow I see my doc to get a prescription of Vit D...my levels are 33 and they should be between 60 and 160 (Gribbles Lab, Melb Australia)...I'm on 4 x 600mg calcium a day, and still have low levels...( I can find them if you are interested). I've got tingling all down my left side today and it is driving me nuts!
I'd love to see your levels and your experiences too!

Welcome home!  Please let others take care of you in these early few days!

I had calcium issues after my TT and all four of my parathyroids were left intact.  I had the tingles for the first 7 days and they resolved on their own after that.  I found that Calcium with Vitamin D helped get rid of the tingles pretty much right away.  That part probably freaked me out more than anything, but my surgeon said that it's very rare for it to be a permanent issue.  Of course, being on this board, we know anything can (and does) happen :)

All the best!!!

Does the calcium mess up your GI system now (constipation to be gross).  Keep an eye on that bcz between maybe going hypo, calcium now being added + the surgery and pain meds you may get in big trouble in that dept next.

Hugs,

C~
