I'm scared...

I'm scared...

My doctor has scared me so bad and now I can't sleep.  He keeps telling me that I'm going to have a heartattack. I can't do anything. He doesn't even want me walking around my house. Anyways he put me on PTU and it seems like I have now developed anxiety.  I can't sleep. I'm so scared that I'm going to have a heart attack and die in my sleep while my children are in the other room.

So my question is does PTU make you have anxiety?  Also I want to know how people take their ptu300mg? The Doctor wants me to take it at 6am, 2pm and again at 10pm. I am also taking Atenolol 50mg on time a day. He said that the Atenolol was first for my heart and then at another appointment he said it was a betablocker. Which on is it. I try so hard to get him to clairify but he want.  He also prescibe to me Methylpred 4mg pak? He said it was for after treatment to keep my eyes from popping out???? I haven't decided which route I'm going to take so why did he prescribe them?

Thanks
Sabrina

Atenolol is a beta blocker that keeps your heart from going into tachacardia, or beating too fast. It stops rapid heartbeats.

Your anxiety is being cuased by your Thyroid disease, not the Atenolol. Anxiety and depression are common symptoms of Grave's Disease and Hashimoto's both.

Are you showing signs of Thyroid Eye Disease (TED)?  He may be trying to stop it before it starts. He may have already decided for you that you are getting RAI.

Have you had an ultrasound or tests other than bloodwork? Have you already been discussing RAI versus surgery?

Is the doctor you are seeing an Endo?
Have you gotten a second opinion?
Endo appointments seem to take forever to get.

Are you showing signs of Thyroid Eye Disease (TED)?   I don't know. The doctor said I'm starting to have bluging eyes. I don't see it though and he told me to only take i after RAI

Have you had an ultrasound or tests other than bloodwork?  I did do the uptake scan will RAI. The doctor said my Thyroid asbord all of the RAI and thats all he said about it.

Have you already been discussing RAI versus surgery?  Yes we've spoke about both but he is pushing RAI. He said also said RAI was a lot easy to deal with than surgery but if I wanted the surgery he would do it.

I am planning on trying to see another doctor today. My first doctor wants to move on to treatmeant as early as march.

RAI versus surgery is a hard decision, and only you can decide which you would rather do.

They both carry risks that need to be considered, and you have to take your own personal situation into account when trying to decide which option is safer or more desireable.

I'm glad you are going to get a second opinion.

You should have an ultrasound done if you've not had one.
It may reveal something that would help make the treatment decision easier to make.

Best of luck to you.
