Increased TSH levels

by signing1080, Nov 13, 2008 04:16PM
I had my thyroid removed last year and went through a round of radioactive iodine.  At 6 months my level was down to 0.5 and at a year it went up to 1.1.  My doctor has done a whole body scan (showed nothing), throglobin injections (went up to 28), ultrasound (showed slightly enlarged lymph nodes on the left side) and  a PET scan (showed nothing).  My surgeon want to remove the lymph node on the left side even though nothing showed up on the scan.  Is there any other reason why my level increased?

Your tsh going up would indicate that your thryoid is not making enough thyroid hormone. Are you on replacement?

The enlarged lymph node may be something completely different.  Get second opinion if you are not comfortable with recommendation from just your doctor.

best wishes
