Increased saliva???

Increased saliva???

Ok, this is a weird question but here goes.  Has anybody here experienced increased saliva whether being hyper or hypo?  I have noticed that there are times that I have increased saliva (constantly wiping my mouth for fear of drooling embarrassment).  I have also noticed that I am sucking my mouth shut without realizing it.  Sometimes I wake and this has happened to the point that my mouth is slightly numb and the insides of my cheeks are swollen and raw.  Have any of you experienced anything like this?  If so, do you know what brought it about?  Sometimes there is even an odd taste, similar to blood but perhaps it is metalic.  Perhaps I am the only weird one here ;)  LOL!  Laughing is easier than crying.

I have had both too much saliva and too little saliva.
As for the metallic taste, it was when I was Hypo and the dry mouth too.
Along with those symptoms, I have had an ulcerated tongue, mouth ulcers, sore tongue, sore jawline with swelling and inside of mouth all swollen...this was usually when I was hyper.
I know if my T4 med needs increasing as my bridge (partial plate) feels very tight in my mouth and I have little saliva.
As I said, if I get mouth ulcers and ulcerated tongue...usually my FT3 is up a little too high (hyper)
Hope that helps.

Ok, that is informitive!  How do I know for sure about these levels without blood work?  Didn't think that I had dry mouth but perhaps I did.  I thought I was sucking it shut (without realizing it) because of the excess silava.  Truthfully, I'm not sure now.  I just know my mouth gets sore, swollen and very sensitive.

Anything to do about it?

This is one of the reasons I kept a journal.....writing down my 'numbers' and symtoms (symptoms) at the time so I could look back and think ..Hey I was hyper/hypo then when I got that symptom.
It is so easy to be confused with the brain fog.
Get yr labs done, write down symptoms in a book with yr lab numbers and take it from there. Do this everytime you go for labs.
Sometimes you may get 'crossover' symptoms where you feel both hyper and hypo.
This is normal and usually means that the FT3 is a little high but the TSH is high too.
That situation is a 'sit and wait' in my books and wait for next set of labs (usually retest in 2-3 weeks).
Hope that helps
