I do have a good Dr who is on the cutting edge of Natural Medicine. I think I will just cut back on the iodine until I can get in to see her. I'm also on a slight dose of T3 Cytomel.
I feel so much better on the Cytomel, I can't believe it. Lots of energy, but I can't stand the headache days....
I've been taking the iodine drops for over a year now, and was recently put on Cytomel after my thyroid test showed my T3 was a little low. I'm also taking bioidentical hormone replacement for progesterone, and have been on it for years now. Love it.
There is a saliva test that you can do to test your hormones. Good luck finding a practioner that will prescribe natural hormone replacements.
It took me 3 years to find mine, but they are out there!
I'm thinking i have maybe a little more energy but really no huge improvements...i have done the test with the idodine on the belly and it did absorb quickly.....i'll continue to do that to make sure i'm not getting too much.....this whole medicine thing has me crazy.....has anyone gone through low estrogen/testosterone levels too? my dr says my thyroid levels are ok right now but my hair is brittle and falling out at the root and i'm totally tired...not to mention the anxiety side of things...just wondering if anyone has any advice for me on that issue.....

Are you also taking other thyroid meds?
There are lots of ways to get iodine in your system and you are correct in sayingit causes problems if you have too much.
A MH member told me of a test. Buy a bottle of regular iodine and put a drop where it wont rub off. Watch it and see how long it takes to disappear.
I do this everyday before taking a supplement. So far it absorbs within 2 hours showing that I need iodine.
I take 3 drops a day of Thyadine but, this may not be good for you to take. I am not taking any other thyroid meds at this time.
Though I am a believer in herbal meds and treatments since most medication is derived from roots/berries/etc. so there is some validity to using the base ingredients.
However; these treatmnents or meds are not regulated. You as the consumer must take the time to reasearch each treatment/herb/root/etc and assess if it is right for you.
If you have a Dr. you must definitely talk with him/her before proceeding any further. I am a person that believes in todays medicine first and foremost.
If it is at all possible to talk to your DR. about tis... please do so.
Keep us posted.
Are you feeling any better on the idoral?? How long have you been taking it?
Usually I say stay away from it unless testing has shown you are iodine deficient.
I'm taking 1/2 tab of idoral to help the absorption of the Armour ...is this bad? It was my last resort to feeling better.....
yeah
stay off the supplements .. not a good choice.
Are you on any meds?
