Irregular periods with hypothyroidism on Synthroid

Had normal period 3 months ago then skipped last two. Now I have been spotting brown then red for 6 weeks now. Took pregnancy test came back negative. Since I've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism been having irregular periods but nothing lasting this long. Im 47 and my OB/GYN said I'm not in post med. I do have a appointment to see her but not till next week. Concerned it may be cancer...have some blotting  no cramps, no sore nipples??? Can this be my meds?

I have PCOS- polycystic ovary syndrome/Hasimotos. I started eating dulse seaweed three weeks to a month back to add some iodide in my diet and noticed IMMEDIATE changes. The first time I chopped up a tbsp of it and added it to a bowl of soup, I could feel a warm tingling in my thyroid, stomach and ovaries. I feel better than I have in years. Knew I was on the right track. Doing a lot of research on my health issues, and now realize that iodide alone is not enough, nor is the amount I can get from the dulse. I recommend you watch this video

I feel excited about my life/health again, after years of trying a host of treatments for seemingly unrelated problems. I realize now that it all comes back to iodine deficiency.

You are 47 and may not be POST menopausal, but you certainly are old enough to be peri-menopausal, when periods become irregular and skip months or have spotting.  This phase can last up to 10 years before actual menopause.  It's good for your peace of mind that you are seeing an OB/GYN - to rule out Ovarian cysts or anything strange like that, but I'm betting it's just thyroid and being 47.

When did you start treatment for hypothyroidism?  Were you hyper at any time before this?  It helps us to help you if you can post exact lab values:  TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 to see where you are at.  What is your dosage of medication?
