Just curious about what type of thyroid med are you taking and what dosage?   Has this prevented you from having hypothyroid symptoms?

I take thyoxine half an hour before breakfast , 1 vit D with breakfast and 1 vit D in the evening. I had my thyroidectomy about 10 years ago and my calcium levels dropped so low before I left the hospital that I had a calcium drip for a few days -not fun!! Since then I had been taking calcium tablets in the evenings as not a good plan to have them too close to thyroxine tabs.
Now though ,I don't take the calcium supplement at all and rely on getting enough from food - apparently there is a correlation between calcium supplements and heart issues.Calcium is vital for muscle function throughout the body so I am monitored closely re levels. Any tingles I reach for cheese, or low fat milk.
Okay so far.

I was informed 1 hour for food and four hours for Vitamins and minerals, I know many must take Calcium to avoid Osteo problems, and I also understand that when Calcium is low, the body will acually rob bone from itself to get the calcium needed, and causing low bone density in older patients.  Thanks for your response, I know now that we can take it, although wait a period after thyroid meds.

My doctor actually prescribed calcium for me.  Just be sure you don't take it within an hour of taking levothyroxine/synthroid.  It will interfere with absorption.
