Is Rocaltrol Necessary?

by PytK, Jun 19, 2008 02:08PM
I have just had a total thyroidectomy and I was prescribed Eltroxin and Rocatrol while in the hospital.
After leaving I ran out of Rocaltrol and my doctors were not alarmed.

I am wondering if Rocaltrol is direly exigent for my health.

Hello, PytK,
I am not familiar with Rocaltrol. Will have to research that one.

Rocaltrol is vitamin D - it is usually given for absorption of calcium pills when low calcium is an issue post neck surgery.  If you are not having calcium issues, then I dont think you need the extra calcium or vit D.
