Is a 5mm solid mass a little over three inches?

by yellowbush, Nov 03, 2009 02:18PM
I recently had a thyroid ultrasound and was diagnosed with a 5 mm hyperechoic solid mass in the central portion of the left lobe of my thyroid. I am to have a thyroid scan in December and will have to be off my medicine (Armour thyroid) for four to six weeks. A lot of the time I can feel phlegm on my throat, but after I eat lunch I usually feel better than I do in the morning. I'll be glad to get this ultrasound over with. I know most nodules are benign but 5 percent aren't. I'm kind of scared about this. The more I read on the internet the more confused I become.
