Is 'soy' dangerous?

Australia (especially Sydney where I live) has a large Asian population and with that comes soy in every form imaginable, from soy sauce through to tofu ice cream.

I have been looking at the ingredients of lots of products and lots of them seem to contain something to do with soy, whether it be soy protein or soy this or soy that.

Is soy bad for people with Hashimoto's?

I have read things which say yes, some say no. It is so confusing!

No, that's not true.  I've been reading that it's not as good for us as was once thought, but toxic?  No........

Soy inhibits the absorption of thyroid medications.

Soy is found in a lot of processed foods; that's why it's best to eat fresh as much as you can.

For the most part, soy should be avoided by those on thyroid replacement medication, since it can inhibit the absorption of the medication.

Small amounts, periodically, and separated from thyroid medication by several hours, should not be a real big issue.
