Is there a connection?

A friend of mine has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism since last year.  However, due to reasons even I don't know about, he has refused medication.  Few days ago he began experiencing pain in his arms to an extent that he went to the doctor's for this.  He didn't mention about his thyroid condition to this doctor, but the doctor claims that he lacks calcium and that he mustn't be in air-conditioned areas.  Yesterday he began to have small red spots all over his body, more so on his back.  So, my question is, can the aching bones and red spots have anything to do with his thyroid condition?

Pettachiae (the little red dots) and nerve damage (pain in the arms) can be symptoms of Pernicious Anemia from Vitamin b12 deficiency.

Not a doctor but I think that's a definitely possibility. He should always disclose everything to doctors trying to figure out issues. It might save them time.
