Itching

I have Grave's Disease.  At times, especially during stressfull situations, I experience extreme itching all over.  I've tried everything including Valium and Benadryl.  They help alittle, but not enough to stop the itch.  Could this be associated with Grave's?  The disease is aggravated because I have other symptoms acting up like my double vision and my heat intolerance.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you still there?  Can you tell me about the kind of food you eat, as much description as possible?  Also, please tell me ALL meds you take of any kind for any condition.  I may have some advice.

I have Graves Disease as well.  I would occasionally get a wierd rash all over my hands, and talk about itch!  I once asked the doctor about it, but he sort of dismissed it.  Funny how that went away when I had a thyroidectomy!   The heat intolerance is also hyperactive thyroid related (I often would put a sweater on in the morning, but it never stayed on for long!).  Also, are you on an anti-thyroid drug?  I seem to remember being warned about a rash when I first started taking Tapazole.

Short answer - could be (I find almost everything "can be" attributed to thyroid problems one way or another).  Watch the double vision, Graves Disease can also cause a secondary auto immune attack on the eyes which causes double vision in some cases.

I wish you the best in your quest for an answer!  Good Luck.
