I wont have the jab.
Havent had it for 12 years now.
I used to have it every year for 7 years and for 7 years I got broncitis then pneumonia.
I stopped getting it and havent had the flu since.
Seems my antibodies dont like the flu (hehehehe- touch wood ).
I got the Cardio on Wednesday arvo with the doppler echo to be done in the morning...now this will be interesting.
Forgot to ring up for other labs...bugger....will do it tomorrow.
I don't think I have much choice! I had the vaccine last year here and also got it in USA ( I was the first in the whole of Oregon to get it, Man I am soooo proud of that status...tee hee hee!)
I have heard that for many thyroid patients it is not a good idea, but I seriously get so sick I have to be hospitalised so I think it is definitely worth getting the jab!
To all us guys who seem to pick up any bug going round, it is flu season again here, who will be lining up for the jab? Will you red with your immune system so shot to pieces?
NOW my left knee is playing up! Grrrrr. I noticed last week it was swollen and throbbing and very hot! This is the same knee I had operated twice in one year back in 1999. Been really good since then! But this week, it's crunch, click, lock, ouch!!! Couldn't stand up in the shower properly this morning as it was what I call 'pinging pain' It feels like when you straighten it, there is bayonet stabbing the knee cap and it hurts! So flexing it back is comfortable.
I really seriously do not want this to 'go' on me! I am not so good these days with anesthetics and I am getting fed up with not being well!
On a good note, the blood nose has stopped. Shoving a gallon of goop up there 3 times ago is not much fun...still gotta do that for another week and a half!
The infection I had up there now makes sense as to why I was feeling so garbage. The tiredness is nowhere near as bad. My poor old body being immune-suppressed was fighting the infection and I didn't even know I had one!
Holter monitor tomorrow. I have had some doozie palps in the past 48 hours so hopefully they will see some on the monitor.
The holter monitor I had was an elastic strap that is attached to your body (whilst sleeping too) and you press a button on it (while awake) whenever you feel a palp or a fast heartrate.
I had one years ago and sorry to say it is the most uncomfortable thing to sleep with ever!
But its only for 24 hours.
Mine showed that my heart stopped whilst asleep 4 times through the night (but I'm still here lol).
This is when Tachycardia and Bradicardia was picked up with me.
I also had my nose cauterised when I was 8 years old too for nose bleeds and I remember the scabs up the nose afterwards for a few days and with not being able to touch the inside of the nose or blow it, it gets stuffy to breathe for a few days.
But it fixed the nose bleeding for me,
Since then I have had a few nose bleeds but they tend to be like a dripping nose rather than a godforsaken TAP ! lol.
Red....I think maybe its time you looked for another Doc.
I wouldnt tolerate the Endo you have.
Just because he has all those letters at the end of his name , makes him no expert in my opinion.
I find my Doc brilliant.
Maybe when he gets back from the UK (4 weeks) then you can contact him as I dont see him that often now...I email him lol.
Oh! I was soooo hungry on the way back tonight, I kept thinking of fried rice! Me and my psychic-ness!
Yes, I am at a loss as to why 3.2 is considered: "Oh well, it's a little low, but nothing too bad" I am tearing out what hair I have left! Especially since my TSH is at 0.23 and the low Free T3..makes no sense!
You had the Holter Monitor I think? Can you give me any advice on how to deal with it? I hate anything on my body as I sleep....except clothes of course!
I am a bit hyper-jibberish tonight....having the nose cauterised and the long day and helping my son move house, and having younger son have the Boys in Blue come visit me with a Caution for Possesion of a lovely green weed...I am ready for the nut-farm!
T3 ain't so easy to get here in the Land of the Dumb and Dumber Doctors! My endo is a member of the US Endocrinological Whatever it is Society as well as being a member of every other Endo society around the world! He has been to many conventions and the 'latest' research is, NO T3 ever! How do you argue with that one!? Beats me how they figured it out!
Anyway, the Rheumatologist was pretty good. At least he was the very first doctor in 20 years to ask...Do you snore? I said YES! AND I have episodes of stopping breathing, so much so my son comes in and pokes me in the ribs to see if I am actually dead! He said that the majority of extreme fatigue patients have Sleep Apnoea He said, 'I want a sleep study done, and for you to wear a Holter Monitor for 24 hours' I have heart palpitations that may or may not be related to damage to the heart from lack of oxygen as I sleep. He actually UNDERSTOOD that I am fed up and tired of being told take more Iron/Calcium/Pig's Trotters/Aunty Jane's 100 year old herbal remedy...and that he believes that 80% of my problems are probably Sleep Apnoea induced, which I can see the logic in that. BUT he has no idea why my hair is falling out, or why I have diahorrea and nausea and headaches.
He is treating me for something I knew a long time ago I have, and whilst that is wonderful ( I got sick and tired of asking for a sleep study done many many years ago...sleep apnoea runs in my family....but the doc back in 1994 said, 'You are not overweight, you are only 31, you can't possibly have THAT!' ) it is not the cure-all at this time. I must say I am very happy he picked up on something no other freaking stupid doctor ever has! At least it is a start. Even if I get the CPAP machine....>cringe<.....and sleep better...then maybe I can deal with the other issues as they crop up.
Stay tuned!
Wow..your FT3 is low!
I thought mine was low at 4.6 but I'm comfortable on that level...any higher and I feel hyper.
As for the Cortisol...I had mine done after RAI and also 8 months ago and mine is good so something is going on with you Redhead.
Although I must say if my TSH was the same as yours, I'd be in the ER of a Hospital.
Mine is good around 2.3 - 2.5 (I think cos of the heart issues).
My Doc has gone to the UK for 4 weeks.......but Dorevitch gave me my labs over the phone tonight so I am fine with that.
As for moving to Queensland...forget it ! lol
Robs two boys live there lol.
I'm fine in Melbourne (hehehe).
Things are starting to settle down with me and hopefully the Doppler Echo ultrasound and Cardio on Wednesday will go SMOOTH lol.(fingers crossed).
As for energy.....I cooked up a big batch of fried rice tonight.....I have heaps of energy.
I'd go nuts if I was tired all the time.
And as for the Rhuemy......I dont have much faith in them as Docs tend to palm you off to one when 'they havent got a clue'.
I still say its your thyroid issues and nothing to do with a Rhuematologist.
Hee hee..Yes! I told Deb the same thing! I told her we need to move North to Queensland! (Imagine moving to Florida from Wisconsin!) Deb and I seem to go through the same things at similar times! Totally weird!
I agree with everyone else -- your endo is an idiot and if possible, I'd get another; otherwise talk to the GP and see if he will give a small dose of a T3 med.
Hope you get it worked out soon; been there, done that, so I know how you feel.
Wow - you too... what is going on in Aussie land with you and Deb?
Take care Red -
Dumb dumb doc. Low FT3 and he things you're hyper!
You need a new doc. You need T3 med. Can't your GP prescribe it for you.
yes, maybe other things happening, but you do need to be properly medicated for your thyroid.
hey, i'm talking to the coverted I know! Frustrating!
Oops, I meant to say 'many' not 'all' of us have adrenal problems. :) T.
This just stinks that the doc is ignoring your FT3. My TSH is a 0.04. Tell your doc that, and that my endo treats symptoms and frees, not a pituitary hormone.
You probably do have an adrenal issue, as we all do.
Sorry that you are going through this.
:) Tamra
Sorry to say but your thyroid doc is a moron to not understand and see that you are hypo because of your low free t3 level. Apparently he doesn't understand that T4 is converted to T3 which is the most active form....hence....you are chronically fatigued due to dummy dr who doesnt truly understand and specialize in thyroid!!
LOL....sorry I had to vent for you! Can you get your GP to listen to you? Start out by asking him...."Since you are king of the castle here.....I am sure you would understand the importance of T3.....etc....etc....etc... I would explain what is going on and see...just maybe he can help you.
Keep us imformed....I am so sorry you feel so bad. :)
