Leg Pain from Thyroid Removal

by CC590, Feb 29, 2008 10:26AM
Thyroid removal in November, 2007. By the next morning, my thighs were feeling "sore. Then, a few days later, the pain got worse and also included my calves and feet.  Pain early in the day turns to pain and tingling in the evening.  Thanks so much to the person who responded to me about magnesium, but I am already taking it at night along with a multi vitamin and calcium.  Maybe I need more of the magnesium (I take 200mg).  I felt like an idiot until I learned from this website that others are experiencing the leg pain as well.  I have had an MRI (no nerves pinched) and lots of blood tests...(no Lupus, MS or muscular disease present).  But, the legs don't stop hurting and tingling.  I am going to change endocrinologists because mine told me he had "never heard of such a thing" and sent me to a neurologist who took me seriously and I am still under his care.  I am taking Levoxyl 1.125 (thyroid levels are supposedly normal with it) ... Lyrica, Soma and pain meds, but I don't like having to do that to function.  Anyone who has had leg pain from thyroid removal and beat it... please tell me how you did it!!!   Thanks again for the advice on the magnesium. I had severe leg pain after TT for about 7 months (tt was due to thyca in october 2006). You can read all my posts under the name Sveta (just type "sveta" in the search box). I still have it but got a little bit better after changing the Levoxyl dosage. I went trought so many doctors and even bone scan(all good)
I think this pain related directly to TSH level . What is your TSH anf thyroglobulin levels?
When I had 0.03 TSH... it was really bad. Now it is 1.24 and leg pain much better.
