Levothyroxine and breastfeeding

by momof05, Nov 05, 2009 05:11PM
I have been diagnosed with very underactive thyroid.  My doctor prescribed Levothyroxine.  I am nursing an infant and I want to make sure it is 100% safe for me to keep nursing.  Is Levothyroxine safe?

That question is best answered by your doctor and pharmacist. In my OPINION...I would think it wouldn't make a difference due to the fact that our bodies make thyroid hormone anyway, but I myself would ask my dr this exact question as well.  :)
Hope you get to feeling better soon!  :)
