Levothyroxine and cycles

by Renwick2004, Nov 09, 2009 09:30PM
I am on my 3rd month (nearing 4) of Levothyroxine and on my 3rd period.  The first cycle was normal (started 2 weeks, as planned, after I started the medicine); the second one was much lighter but then spotted for a week after; and the 3rd was just as light but now spotting for 2 weeks.  Right before I ovulated I had one strong bleeding and then it stopped for 2 days.  Then the spotting came back.  It ranges from light pink to red and I wear a pad just in case.  I'm now on day 21 and I'm feeling pretty frustrated.  We were trying to conceive without prior knowledge that I would spot for so long!  So my questions are:

1) Is this spotting normal? My doc said it takes 3 months to adjust but the periods keep getting worse.
2) Does the spotting affect my chances of getting pregnant?
3) How long does it take to adjust to the medicine or should I be concerned?

Any help would be great!  Trying to avoid going into the doctors right now with everyone being so sick :-(
