Thanks so much for the input.
Goolarra's got it right. I had the same issues when I was first diagnosed with hypothryoidism (Oct 2011). It does take time for the meds to kick in and to get the dosage right. Have you had your vitamin D checked too? Try going out in the sun, if you can, for a bit and see if that makes you feel a little better. Corny idea i know, but it helped me a little. People kept telling me that I would feel better and I just didn't think it was possible or that I would ever feel good again. YOU WILL! Give it a couple of weeks and if you don't feel any better (not 100%, but a little) I'd follow up with your doctor. Somebody reminded me that it took a long time for my body to become hypothyroid and it can't just fix itself over night. It takes time. Reminding myself of that helps a little and puts it into perspective a little more. Hang in there and when you need to cry, then do it. You will feel stupid at times and have no clue why things are happening to your body or why you're feeling the way you are, but it'll get better. Oh the life of a woman?! :)
Depression is a symptom of hypothyroidism.
It takes thyroid meds 4-6 weeks to build in your system and reach full potential, so seeing an effect that soon after starting meds is usually not due to the active ingredient in the levo. However, all tablets have fillers (inactive ingredients) which some people are sensitiv eor allergic to. Perhaps that is what you are seeing, although depression is not a coomon allergic reaction.
If it doesn't resolve in a while (might take a couple of weeks due to the nature of levo) or it becomes worse or other symptoms appear, talk to your doctor. Sometimes a simple change from one brand to another of from generic to brand name or vice versa is all that's needed.
