Levoxyl Pill Stuck

by kitcurious, Sep 04, 2007 06:32AM
If the pill gets stuck in your chest on the down ( yes I took a full 8 ounces of bottled water with it and it's still stuck today for soem reason) is it still fully dissolved in 30-60 minutes? Is the burning I feel in my chest just a linering feeling due to the pill having been there previously? In other words, is it gone an hour later whether it dissolved in my esophagus or my stomach?
I've been pushing more water but it still burns.
Thanks everybody!!

Please excuse the typos/omitted words. "If it gets stuck on the WAY down" and "lingering feeling" it should read. Sorry.

I agree with Pam.  You could also call the pharmacist and ask.  S/he should be able to tell you something.  Hope it's okay.

Don't know ... some meds can burn a hole in the stomach if they sit there but I didn't think so with thyroid meds ???  It may be a sensation from a scratch on the esophagus along the way down . that would be my best guess and it feels like it is there ??

Thanks guys! I'll ask the pharmacist as I am about to go out and will be passing by the drugstore. Maybe it is just a scratch.

is it possible something else is stuck in your esophagus?  I have actually had the pill completely dissove in my  mouth if I don't swallow fast enough, so I would be very surprised if it is actually the pill that is stuck.  I'm talking less than 30 seconds in a mouthful of water and the pill is completely dissoved.  I would venture to bet that it is a scratch.

By the time I got around to doing my errands the burning sensation had stopped. It was either a scratch or the pill dissolving where it was stuck? That rapid dissolve happening in the "wrong" place may have been what I was feeling.
Next time I won't keep the pill on the night stand with a bottle of water and swallow it sitting up in bed LOLOL
I'll drag myself all the way up and into the bathroom before 6AM,  like usual.
So much for that "brilliant" idea.
