I am having the right side of my thyroid removed in one week for a possible follicular neoplasm. For those of you who have had 1/2 of their thyroid removed did you require meds at any time? Did you ever go on meds permanently? Do you still feel that same? My thyroid function is fine but I'm concerned about it not functioning well after surgery, although ever doctor says "the other side will compensate." I'd like to honestly know what others have gone through.
