please help me understand about the thyroid level of mine that is 0.005 ! It has been going down for about 10 months now and dr has changed my meds on 7 occasions . From 137 to 75 mg. I had surgery 22 years ago and had 3/4 of the left side removed . It was not cancer and started on 25 mg levythyroxine. Since then been on 50 then 75mg until 10 months ago and tsh went down to 0.003 that is when dr changed everything. recently back on 75 mg and feeling some better but i go back in 4 more weeks for a complete thyroid panel at my request because they usually do only the TSH every 3 months and the rest 1 time a year.I cannot loose weight at all since all this is going on. Please help me understand what to do now.
Thanks Janjern57

Your TSH shows Hyper.
I would be asking for the Free T3 and Free T4 to be done regardless of what your Doctor says.
I gained 16 kilograms whilst Hyper before RAI in June this year and only NOW, have I started to lose 2 kilograms and that was because my levels are now starting to sort themself out.
Until your levels are good, it will be very hard to lose the weight you have gained as most here will tell you.
I was always told that with Hyper, you lose weight.
I didnt!
I gained and it all seemed to be within 4 weeks of taking Neomercazole to block the Thyroid.
One consolation is my weight hasnt gained since I had RAI.
Hope that helps.

I dont think you should have to wait another month to get more bloodwork.  Go ask the Dr. for Free T3 & Free T4.  That way, you can actually see your levels instead of guessing what they are by your TSH.
I also gained a few pounds with hyper.  I think it is because I'm just sitting around like a lump trying to keep my BP down and stop the pounding pulse in my head.  Muscles use calories and I'm not using muscles.  I tried and it makes me run a fever.  So I'll just be fluffy for now, until my Free T3 drops.

Are you on beta blockers as they will help bring your T3 down and stop that pulsating pulse in the head feeling.
Gawd, do I remember those days!
