Low TSH for infant?

Low TSH for infant?

Hi! My baby(female) is 6 days old and diagnosed with low TSH. The lab test results indicates that she only has 2.03 uIU/ml. The reference the hospital gave us is 2.4 - 40 uIU/ml.

My question is, what is the actual/normal level of TSH for infants? What are the necessary steps to take?

Thank you and best regards...

Vern

Hello,

do you have any thyroid condition?  Am just asking in case there is any hereditary connection?

Her level is only just below the reference range.  At this stage I wouldn't be too worried and would just monitor in a few weeks.  I assume this is what her doctor would do.

They also want to check ft3 and ft4 and make sure these are normal too.

Levels for infants are not the same as for adults.

let us know what her doctor says.

Hi Super_sally888,

thank you for you info.

my mother in-law has HYPERTHYROIDISM.

We are actually trying to have an additional test from a different hospital within the next few days with new specimen.

I'll keep you posted.
