My last thyroid tests (early Oct.) came back that my thyroid medication was too high - but by different doctor than who normally sees me. I knew that doctor could not be correct. So traveled 350 miles to my endocrinologist who said my Levoxly medication at
0.100mg was perfect. and not too high dose for me. I agree with him. However, my Vit D came back (no test numbers provided to me - but will get a report with lab numbers in a couple of weeks) was just reported as some low - but this was at the end of summer when I'd been in the sun and taking the 5,000 units. I do take D3. along with 600 mg of Calcium. But as you know since the end of summer - has been 6 mths. and I live in a Northern (Washington) State with lots of rain and clouds. But until I found this blog last night did not know of any folks taking 50,000 units or as yourself 20,000 units. Is there a doctor who specializes in checking. My old doctor is in Spokane, Wa. and she was good at working with me on the levels. Why I wrote I will get the answer of my exact Vit D level in 2-3 weeks. I am going to go up and see her. She normally treats folks with arthritis which I test negative for but as I wrote I've been having lots of joint pain in the last few months, miserable really. Thank you for your reply. I will post my results when have.
Vit D is a hormone - more effected to the stimulant hormones of the "feel good" hormones in the brain.
Yes, if you are hypothyroid - your levels of Vit D are most likely low.
Have you had labs for thyroid and Vit D? - post them if possible. For ME - that amount of D is not adequent and I never had the test either. I take 20,000 iu's daily and it must be D-3 to get the most out of it too.
