Ain't it though!!! I guess patience needs to be all our middle names. I guess you need to look at it as no news is good news.
Did they do a PET scan on you? I know it's rather expensive test and not a whole lot of places can do them.
On a personal note, I just got off the phone with my sister who is getting a TT next Friday. Tonight she told me that her surgeon is pretty sure it's cancer. She originally told me he gave it a 20 percent chance. And she told me she's worried about her clavical area. She hasn't sent me her FNA pathology report yet, but from the way she talked and the fact she is almost 60, if it is cancer, it sounds like it might be follicular. Needless to say, I'll be on pins and needles until I find out what's going on.
I agree! NO news is good news. Wait & see is something that has tried my patience to no end. I give it to God & trust in him to place me in good handsHand or foot spasms Hand tremor. A PET scan is a really good idea...they show so much better than CT's & MRI's. God Bless!
I'd love a PET scan if my insurance will cover it but they are a bit stingy. I'm going to give it a couple of months then push the matter again with my endo.
About PET scans, I now that it's a radiation scan so do you have to wait a certain amount of time after an I-131 scan?? Hmmm. Questions I *never* thought I'd ask. :-)
MJ - I'm sorry about your sister's problems. Are they looking at a substernal thyroid? Not fun. Follicular isn't good but at least it's still treatable with RAI. I'll be on pins and needles too - please let us know and give her our best!!!
At least the results so far sound encouraging. A PET scan may be useful, but they detect "metabolically active tissue" and are fairly non-specific. According to my endo you tend to get a lot of false-positive results from PET scans, but he said they are recommended for suspected metastatic cancer.
On a personal note, I am tentatively scheduled for RAI on Nov 20 if my TSH is high enough, and I'm pretty nervous about what the scan will show. But, of course, I'll just have to deal with the results as they come.
Anyway, I have been reading your posts and following what you are going through and wish you all the best.
