just watchout for the side effects of well butrin it can cause tremorsand fics.
I am bipolar so I take celexa for the depressiona nd zyprexa for the manic.
O quit smoking on the day of my surgery Sept.25th I somed my last one before I went into the hospital and I havent looked back.
Lots of us take anti depressents cause this thyroid thing is so connected to our mental health.
I like the celexa over the other anti depressents cause for me I havnt had the other side effects of tremors, tics, and spaced out feeling and sexual dysfunction. All though I do recall that wellbutrin doesnt have that particular side effect.
dont be afradi to try the meds.If one doesnt work then try a different one.Oh and one more thing.Give them time to kick in.some take 4 to 6 weeks to get their full benefit.
Good luck Venora
Its not so much for smoking, ive not had one since 11/06 and im doing fine w/it..its more for depression
thanks for the input!

I'm an expert quitter. I've tried the patch, the gum, Wellbutrin. Was smoke free for four years and then started up again about 8 mos ago due to bad hypo symptoms. So now I have to stop again.
I know a lot of people who did excellent on Wellbutrin. My father who smoked 2 packs a day for 40 years quit using it. It does wonders. I, however, cannot take it. I developed severe rashes from it all over my arms, so they took me off of it due to "allergic reaction." If Wellbutrin doesn't work, you may want to try the new drug Chantix. My doc is going to prescribe it to me once I get my levels back to normal (no use trying it while I'm overly depressed and feeling dopey.) Doc just wants me to deal with one thing at a time. My primary care doc said Chantix blocks the nicotine receptors in the brain---so you get no satisfaction from smoking after about a week of taking the drug. It's new, but as I understand it, this drug has the best success rate so far...at least in the short-term tests done. But I don't know what the long-term results are.
Good luck.
I used Wellbutrin to quit smoking over a year ago. It worked really well for me. Somehow, after you are on it for about 2 weeks they make the cigs taste really bad. I haven't had a cig since 10/05 and have no desire to have one. I have even been in an environment where people smoked and felt no desire to smoke. I higly recommend Wellbutrin. They did make me a little spacy but nothing I couldn't handle. I think I was on the drug for about 3 months. I had no problems working and such.
