Meds dosage

OK, so Im on this site long enough to know not to up my meds myself....BUT I went to my doc yesterday and he is really adamant about not upping my meds :( So I was thinking if I took 75 instead of 50 jus for a week or so to see how I go.. I dont think a week would do much damage and I can always go back to 50 if I get worse!!! I would like any input or advise on this as Im willing to try it for a short while. Plaese tell me the good and bad thing from doing this....
Cheers Jen

This is my second doc.... they just look at the levels and say Im fine. even though I feel awful.. I know I shouldn by right but I dont think Im going to get the increase from my doc. I figure if I increase it just by a small amount and see how I feel and if it makes me worse Il go back to 50.... I dono I just cant take much more, something has to give, its either me or the meds!Im hoping its the meds! Been on 50mcg for 2 months now and feel I have all it going to give me at this stage

Have you had any other tests done?  Free T-4 or Free T-3?

I'd be afraid to adjust on my own. Maybe someone else will have some ideas on what you can do.

If you don't think you are getting proper care, maybe you should think about looking for another doctor also??

What are your current blood levels?  Have your levels been balanced and just now gone out of whack?

I ask because you aren't due for blood work until April - that's a long time unless you have been balanced for a while.  My PCP did that to me - I was tested in early Nov and he didn't schedule me to tested again until the end of Feb.  Fortunately, I found a lab that would do it without a dr order so I had it done myself on Jan 15.  I had an appt with a new endo yesterday and was able to take the more recent blood work with me - still not balanced.  Endo adjusted med and do blood work in 4 weeks.

BTW - I'm looking for a new PCP!!

well I am a self med'er .... bad I know but most the time the dam dr's are wrong anyway!  My last mayo endo says "your only one a pediatric  so go ahead and stop the meds!" I said I did not want too....well I did thinking maybe he was right! NOT I went bad hypo within two weeks being off my pedatric dose..lol so I started my meds back to 25mcg..I knew that was not enough after 4weeks so I went to 37mcg! waited for my labs and yep! I knew still hypo! so I upped again to 50 mcg after 6 weeks on the 37mcg.. I say its fine just do it gradual slow doses.... if you are on 50 I would then only take an additional 12.5 mcg for a few weeks and see how you do! it takes couple weeks for the levels to start dropping etc... this is just my suggestion.......but see how you feel!

are you feeling hypo??? we are our best judge of our bodies and how we feel. My med increase helped me as i am very intune with my bodyand symptoms.... many time I have had to do this as my docs refused to listen! I have had positive outcomes, but though I am sure some have not! Again .. only increase SMALL amounts and go from  there.. never stop cold turkey..though! that would not be good! I know..lol goodluck.. Im sure others will chime in with their opinions
