Missed Levoxyl for 2 weeks, now back on...cause for concern?

Hello (I'm new here...!)

I recently unfortunately had to miss taking my medication for 2 weeks. I was on dosage of 150mg of Levoxyl...I took the pills for a week and then had a appointment/blood work done with my doctor and my dosage was lowered to 137mg of Synthroid (I recently lost 20 pounds so that's why I went down).

Anyways, now I've been on this new dosage for about 3 weeks and I'm having side-effects like never before. My sleep has been very much affected (can't stay asleep through the whole night), I'm exhausted physically and mentally (even if I get more sleep, it doesn't feel like enough). And most annoying of all but my digestive system has become such a mess. I'm more often constipated than not...I've been taking stool softeners on and off to try to alleviate the symptoms...but I'm getting concerned.

Is this just some severe side effects from my medication being a bit off schedule, or is this a larger issue?

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly, greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Specific symptoms that made you suspect you were hyper?  If the decision to temporarily eliminate thyroid med and then lower dosage was based primarily on your TSH, you should be aware that TSH is very frequently suppressed below range when taking adequate doses of thyroid med.  That does not mean you are hyper, unless you have hyper symptoms due to excessive levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T4 and Free T3.

A good thyroid doctor will treat a hypothyroid patient clinically by testing and adjusting Free T4 and Free T3 as needed to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels.  Symptom relief should be all important, not just test results, and especially not TSH levels.  If you have been tested for Free T4 and Free T3 (not the same as Total T4 and Total T3, which are frequently done), then please post results and ranges shown on lab report.

Since your symptoms seem to relate to missing two weeks of your med, plus changes in your med dosages, it seems most logical that they are related.  Were you symptom free previous to those changes?  Also, please post the most current results from the bloodwork you mentioned, along with reference ranges shown on the lab report.  Over what period of time did you lose the 20 pounds?  Was this a good thing, or something you really did not want to happen?

I was feeling a bit hyperthyroid previous to the 2 weeks without (possibly due to the weight loss). Weight loss was a good thing, I've been trying via Weight Watchers to lose weight. It was lost over several months, so at a normal rate, I believe. My last test result for TSH was .094 uIU/ml and the standard range is from .3 to 5.6 (my doctor wants me at around .5)
