Missed dose

If someone missed synthroid for 4 days, is it ok to take all the missed doses together? A friend went away and forgot their synthroid medication at home.

My guess is if she took no more it would dissipate as it metabolized (tho she'd prolly feel a bit ampy for a few days); tho tyroid tests would let her know where she's at and if it's safe to resume therapy, as long as as many days went by as pills she took, maybe an xtra day or 2 for good measure, she'd be fine (assuing a healthy heart; any heart problems with thyroid issues should be addressed immediately).  Initially tho, after taking too many at one time always  at least call someone like a pharmacist or visit the ER as "thyroid storm" is a possiblity..

I had forwarded Dr Ain's article to my friend last night. Before calling the pharmacist she took 9 synthroid, as she was experiencing "brain fog" and didn't realize this was way too much. After calling the pharmacist she was told to go to the ER, where they tested her blood and sent her home. They told her to have her blood tested again in a week. My concern is the synthroid she took today will present problems in 2 or 3 weeks.

Thanks everyone. I asked because I read where Dr Ain said that even several missed doses should be taken together, but perhaps that is just for cancer patients who have had TT.

No!!

Taking four doses at once is not a good idea.
Your friend should take ONE when the medicine is available.
