My 9 year old DD needs prayers

She is sick AGAIN.....she was in the hosp 4 days 2 weeks ago with what we thought was food poisoning.  Well she is sick again and we can not figure out what is going on.  She has had throwing up and BAD tummy pain for almost 3 weeks.  She has had tons of blood work all normal.  This morning she had an upper GI but her ped wont be back until tomorrow so I dont have any results, if they are normal he wants a gallbladder ultrasound.  She is really sad and tired of being sick.  She has always been my happy go lucky, satisfied with everything and anything kid and I CAN NOT help her now...=(
I hate her being like this, ANY input you can give would be appreciated...THANKS in advance.
Dana

Oh hon, I'm thinking about you and sending prayers your way.

My son had his gallbladder out at age 13 - same symptoms.  Nothing really showed on the ultrasound or the hydroscan but it did show the bile emptied very slowly.  We went ahead with the surgery and found that his gallbladder had been chronically full of sludge and had been through so many attacks that it had formed adhesion to his liver.  The surgeon (same one who did all of our thyroid surgeries) said it was unbelievably damaged for someone his age but none of the scans or labs showed it.

Don't let them discharge her until a GOOD pediatric GI has checked for Crohn's, gallbladder/liver problems, pancreatitis, Celiac, etc.

This is so much harder on us moms and dads then it is on the kids so BIG HUGS to you my friend!

May I suggest you swing over to the Gastroentronology Forum and ask them the question about the blood work.  They are a very informative group and all these issues.

I had my gallbladder out last Dec. due to a benign tumor on the inside wall.  In addition to u/s an MRI was done.  That actually gave the best indicator of what was going on.  Though it was only done to look at the gallbladder, it also spotted a small cyst on my kidney.

Good luck to you and, especially, to your little one.

Hi,

I will definitely keep you and your family in my prayers.  I know what its like when one's child is ill and you can't make them feel better.

I really want to say it sounds like acid reflux. My cousin has it really bad and he is 12-13 yo.  The doctor thinks it started from stress.  Not sure yet.

Whatever you do make them keep looking.

Take care of the little Angel
May she be well.

I believe she'll need the Ultra Sound....I have reflux and it has flared up for the past 6 months ...I went yrs with out any symptoms.....it can be an indicater of the gerd and reflux.
Certain foods can make the reflux worse...keep a journal...what she ate...how she felt...and take it to the dr appt.

Good luck

Would gallbladder show up in blood work ?
I had mine out but it was full of stones and I dont remember any blood work showing anything.  She had reflux when she was a baby really bad so I hope it hasn't come back I know it doesn't usually but right now I just want her better !!
She doesn't have any of the things above maybe burning in the throat sometimes but not all the time.

AAWWWWW My prayers to you and your daughter!!! The gall bladder sounds like a good place to start....my Dad had a rough time getting his GB dx...it started in May and he didn't have it removed till July- I don't want to scare u, but inform u to PUSH and keep them looking. Does she have hiccups, burping, burning sensation in her throat?Acid reflux could be a result of a gall bladder issue.

All my prayers
Godspeed
