That's a relief to hear. So increasing/decreasing the calcium as needed is the way to go, I guess. I do worry about it all. I don't want to be looking at kidney trouble down the road. On the other hand, I don't want to be looking at bone or severe blood problems either.
Hope it's going well for you. As always, thanks so much.
Um...That was supposed to be secondary hyperparathyroidism...Brain fog attack...LOL ~M
Hiya! I've experienced lower calciums and slightly elevated PTH intermittently since the PTA surgery...My endo calls it "secondary hyperthyroidism" and that it's a "good thing"...it shows that the parathyroids are doing their job, trying to keep the calcium levels stable (by robbing from my bone stores!) and I need to keep banging away at taking the calcium. I can tell when the PTH ramps up because some of the hyperparathyroid symptoms come back (especially the heartburn and hip aches...) and I get the lip and finger tingles as if low calcium...Maybe it's the same for you? ~Melinda
Oops, meant for this to go in the dr's forum. But if anyone here can address it, that's great too!
