I was supposed to go to ArmourArmour thyroid 1.65 but because of the shortages of Armour, my pharmacist only had Armour 2.0 so I tried that and ended up with mega insomnia, so I stopped it.
Now I am on a compounded prescription with T4/T3 in the same amounts as what Armour 1.65 would have been. It's time release. But I am worry about this switch.
==> Has anyone switched to a compounded T4/T3 with success??
My doctor would like to put me only on Cytomel because of my low free T3, but without any T4 and that scares me because I have always thought that one needs to take both T3 and T4: what do you think??
PS: I would have loved to try Nathroid, but neither my doctor nor my pharmacist have ever heard about that medication.
How do you feel? That would be the bigger question. If you still have symptoms than the FT4 & FT3 could be a bit higher, but again if you feel good why change!
I think the drug you are referring to is Nature-Throid: Here is the website
http://www.nature-throid.com/default.asp
I'm a little confused with your reference to the Armour as I recall 1 grain of Armour = 65mg, so 2 grains would still be under?
I know several people in this forum use Nature-throid, I'm sure they will chime it on your question.
Nature-Throid (this is how its spelled), is on back order (for a few months I was told by RCL lab) from Armour people switching to it the last few months, but still in production. I believe Stella has posted info on this brand.
Armour 1 grain has the same amount of T4 and T3 as Nature-Throid 1 grain.
However, Armour 1 grain is 60mg compared to Narture-Throid 1 grain is measured at 65mg. The actual mg difference must be the amount of filler, NOT hormone. This mg difference freaks out some endos. I had to explane it to mine, as was explained to me by both companies and a pharmacist.
I wanted to find some, could not.
Like carolG52, stated, you Armour reference of 1.65 and 2. do not make sense. 1 grain is 60mg, 2 grains are 120mg
Question for you: Did insurance cover the compound drug cost? I may like into that depending how long this shortage lasts.
