My results..gee what a surprise NOT!

by redheadaussie, Jul 15, 2009 01:58AM
Hi all, well got back my results today. All except the Reverse T3 which apparently is taking longer to come back.
Well, here are the latest
Free T4    17.7  (Ref range 9.0 -25.0)
TSH           2.40  (Ref range  0.35 -5.50)
Free T3        3.9   (Ref range   3.5 - 6.5 )

Six weeks ago I was

Free T4    18.6   same ref ranges as above
TSH          1.35     ""    ""    """     ""   ""
Free T3      3.7      ""    ""   ""    ""    ""

Six weeks before that,
Free T4    17.2        """    """   """
TSH          0.63       ""   """   """
Free T3      3.3         ""   """   """

and so on and so on.....
Basically my TSH is rising....been slowly doing that till the 1.35 one and now it pretty much doubled in 6 weeks!
The Free T3's are dropping but have seemed to stablised lately.

SO it basically proved a point yet again. I know my body better than anyone else. The hair falling out again made me sit up and take notice. My consuming large quantities of food, well, CRAVING large quatities of food, I am sensible enough to realise what was happening and filled up my tummy with lots of cups of tea and steamed vegies! My  periods being so heavy, and my Nanna Naps in the afternoon made me think....Hmm this is all too vaguely familiar!

Been on 100mcgs for a while now. Oct 08 was when I was told to drop it from 114.3mcgs Oroxine. to 100mcgs daily.   I remember telling the endo I did not think it was such good idea!

My cholesterol has risen too. I take 10mgs Crestor daily. Our ref range for totals is not listed. I was down to 3.3 a while ago now up to 5.0  Which is sneaking up! I have read evidence that in a hypo state the cholesterol will rise. When I first was tested after my surgery it was over 7! I got put on meds immediately!

My Vit D after having stopped taking 2,000iu's in April down to 1,000 ius per day is falling too. Not too badly but I know if I continue this way it will defiintely fall back to low levels. Now at 116  ref range (60 -160)  Remembering that I was only at 33 when I first started taking it a year ago I am not too bad. At least my calcium is on track for the time being. Corrected  calcium is now 2.18 Ref range (2.10 - 2.60)  Our ref ranges are very different to you US people!

So in all I told the doc I am hypo...he wasn't so sure!  When I felt totally lousy BEFORE I had my diagnosis of a thryoid disease, (this particular test was in May 2004) Free T4 12.1  and TSH 2.03.   I felt terrible!  No Free T3 done back then as it was deemed not important to a diagnosis.

Ok time to up the meds for a while untill I get back from USA. Hopefully that will be enough to get me through the 9 weeks! I have no way of getting to see an endo here now., Takes over 6 weeks to 3 months to get in!
Wish me luck!

That is such a long time to wait to get in while feeling lousy.  Not sure what to say about the numbers.  Sorry for my ignorance.  I wish you felt better though and definitely will wish you the best of wishes!!!  HUGS
Amy.

Thanks Amy! Unfortunately here in the Land of Oz we have very few endocrinologists and they are so booked up it isn't funny!  I heard about one lady who had to wait 9 months, in the meantime she was actually in labour the day she was due the appointment, when the husband rang to say she obviously couldn't make the appointment. They cancelled and said get a new referral and make another appointment! Crazy!
