My surgery gone wrong

Hello everyone!
I had a total thyroid removed 12 days ago, on the day of the op, they did not take a scan of the thyroid nodules
, i had nine of them, the op took 4hours,later that afternoon a Dr come to visit and he told that there has been conplocations during the op,and that the vocal cords were damaged, so they had to saw them together, and basically i will have voice changes untill, or in the hope that in 6 weeks my voice should be ok?...
I am getting worse by the day, can not swallow fluids very well, as they go the wrong way, lots of pain all over, no energy at all, i stated taking thyroxine 100 mg but no change, i know still early to level the hormones but i need to know if anyone has felt the same.
Thank you

G'day from another Aussie
First up I do feel sorry for your surgery going wrong.
Secondly it is going to take up to 6 weeks for the thyroid med to kick in. It is not, sadly like an aspirin that works immediately. Surgery is not the fix, it is just the start of the journey.
Do make sure you do not take it then have food, for at least an hour after taking the tablet. No other medications for at least 4 hours. There is an absorption issue when taken with food and other medications.

If you are having that much difficulty swallowing I would suggest a trip to the doctor or the local hossie for a look/see.  Emergency will do a thorough exam whereas a normal GP may not.

BTW I felt crappy, lousy and horrible when I had my first side taken out . I feel alot better now 3 years on, but it is still a journey of discovery!

Let us know how you get on.
Cheers
