MyThyroid Level Is .03. Is This Bad?

by TracieS, Mar 04, 2009 05:45PM
Well, 2 years ago I went and tests done on my thyroid goiter and they never gave me the results. I thought everything was ok so I left it alone. I went to the doctor today because it has been giving me problems with swollowing and breathing and she said that the result was .03 back then and immediatly ordered blood work. Is this bad? what does it usually mean? Will I have to take medicine or have surgery? I have never taken medicine for it so I am not sure if it is going to be better or worse. I need help, because I dont understand what this all means and what is happening to me!

Hi Tracy and welcome! Okay please try to stay calm and not worry. You will not know until labs come back if there is anything wrong going on. Just make sure to ask for the proper testing to be done: Blood work- TSH, Free T4, Free T3, ALL antibody tests for Graves and Hashimoto's autoimmune thyroid disease AND you need an ultrasound of your thyroid done.
More than anything...relax....it is all workable. We are here for you and let us know when you get results. ALWAYS get copies of your labs and test results so you can post them here for us to comment on....we love to do that here! lol
