Myasthenia Gravis

by Duchess47, Oct 16, 2007 05:09PM
I just posted a question regarding my symptoms of muscle spasms related to Graves.  I now  woud
like to know (after doing more research) if anyone knows if Graves Disease can lead to Myasthenia Gravis?

Thanks,

Myasthenia Gravis is also auto immune disease if you get one auto immune you are vulnerable to get another one.I have Hashimotos and my neurologist perform bunch of test to rule out MG , one of those are Ab test for MG and also in MG you have dropping eyes/Muscles weakness. Do you have those symptoms as well.

Yes, I do.  And therein lies the confusion becasue apparently you can have these symptoms with Graves also.  I do have an appointment with neurologist coming up.  What is an Ab test?

Thanks

Yes. if you have mg you are more likely to have a thyroid problem.

I'm not sure of the relationship between thyroid and MG.  I have been a Myasthenia Gravis member for years though.  Though still have much to learn.  Are they doing any MuSK  antibody testing or Tensilon test.   Another one is Acetylcholine Receptor Antibody's or simple Fiber EMG.

Before you stress yourself out though I would wait and see what test they have lined up.  I hope and pray all works out for you for the best.  So very sorry for everything you are dealing with.

I hope someone else can chime in with more information for you.  Take care.
