I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH HASHIMOTO'S THYROIDITIS DISEASE FOR MANY YEARS, SEEING A SPECIALIST AND HAVE BEEN DOING FAIRLY WELL. IN 2007 I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CELIAC SPRUE DISEASE, AND I AM LOSING WEIGHT BECAUSE OF NO APPETITE FOR FOOD, SLEEPLESNESS, VERY COLD MOST OF THE TIME, AND MY LYMPH GLANDS UNDER MY LEFT ARM HAVING BEEN ACHING SINCE MARCH. I SAW MY DOCTOR, HE HAD ME CHECKED FOR BREAST CANCER OF THE LEFT BREAST, EVERYTHING WAS FINE,AND JUST FIGURED I HAD PULLED A MUSCLE AS FAR AS THE LYMPH GLANDS WERE CONCERNED. DOES ANYONE KNOW, SINCE CELIAC AND THYROID ARE AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES, CAN THIS BE CONNECTED? I SEE A SPECIALIST FOR BOTH PROBLEMS, BUT HAVE NOT SEEN MY THYROID DOCTOR SINCE LAST FALL, BEFORE MY BRAIN SURGERY. I SEE MY THYROID SPECIALIST IN EARLY JULY, AND JUST WOULD LIKE TO KNOW ANYONE'S IDEAS ON THIS...
I can't comment on your lymph glands, but the Hashimoto's and the Celiac Sprue are related in that they are both autoimmune diseases. It is not unusual to develop more than one.
As AR said having two autoimmune diseases is tough but is manageable
It does take time - but you have to get that thyroidtitis under controlControl Control rx with meds before you see changes.
Go in every four weeks if need be and teest your levels. See when you feel good and test - then when you are bad - test . You will start to get an idea where your nnumbers need to be to heal.
I was tested for Celiac about a year ago because my Endo wanted to confirm or exclude it. She excluded it in my case, thankfully. But she looked at it because it is autoimmune and any autoimmune disease is now on my "look for that first" list when she is trying to address symptoms I complain of. I have Hashimoto's, and she figures sooner or later something else may pop up.
Sorry to hear you got hit by so many things at once.
Hope you start to improve soon.
