Naturapathic way

Hi all, I am considering visiting a naturapathic dr as my MD is not able to help me and an ENDO can;t see me until LAte August.

With my continued insomnia,(2 yrs running)
Lethargy,

Feeling at times, like I am just fading away,

plus many other of the hypo symptoms, I need some relief and the thoughts of continuing like this is almost more than I can bear. I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with one of these docs?

Insurance does not cover it,  I am not working and financially slipping further each day, so I hate to spend any more money on treatments, meds, dr visits, labs, and all those things. I am sure most of you can relate to that.

Looking forward to hearing from you........Peggy

I see a Naturopath and I can tell you it does cost a fair bit and I am on a low income too. You really have to stick to what they tell you which can be difficult. But if you really really want to give it a go, then make a commitment to say 2 months, you may or may not feel better in a short time. My naturopath tells me I am a weird case as normally his patients start to feel good in a short space of time, like 2 weeks, then they stick to his diet, herbs whatever and feel good for longer. I  have ALOT of medical problems so am challenging him every time I see him, hee hee.
I'd say give it a go,  but you have to be brutally honest with yourself and realise they are not going to give you a cure, that it really is a lifestyle change, and awareness. I don't know that anyone can 'cure' my Hashimoto's and Osteoarthritis, even though he seems to think he can. But he is making me more aware of my silly eating times and how my lack of energy comes from eating the wrong 'healthy' foods. Only you know your body and you need to work out what it is you need to do for it. A Naturopath could well be the start of many good and great healings!

Hi Peggy,

You might want to consider a doc that is connected to the Institute of Functional Medicine. Not sure if I can post their web address here but I'll try. Here's the website: http://www.functionalmedicine.org/resources/healthpractitioners.asp. Click on the find practitioner and hopefully there will be someone in your area. No guarantees if they will be good for you but worth a try. These doctors are supposed to be much more open minded and on the cutting edge of scientific research. Plus most are MD's so would be covered through your insurance. Hope you can find somebody.
