Nature Throid?

Greetings,

Since I was advised by you fine folks (thanks, by the way!) on this site not to get unprescribed Synthroid from Mexico I finally found a doctor who was willing to believe I might have a thyroid problem.

She is a naturopath and she prescribed "Nature Throid."  I was a bit skeptical about this but apparently it is a prescription medicine made out of pig thyroid.  (This was not optimal since I am a vegetarian but I would probably eat people if it would make me feel better.)

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this?  She said it is like Armour Thyroid but "more pure."

Sarah

I can't believe no one has replied to you since 4/07.  I've been on 45 mg of Naturthroid for 30 days.  Started with 1/4 grain first day, then went to 2 1/4 grains for rest of first week.  than for 4 weeks wen on 3 1/4 grains, now i'm ready to on 4 1/4 grains, or one whole grain of Naurethroid.

eAre you still on it?  whats your dose?  any side effects??  When i was on 3 i was fine, i even went to 4 and thought i was fine, but got a littel nauseated...than i went to 4 1/4 and co uldn't sleep and felt terribly angst all day...so returned immediately to 3 1/4 grains (45 mg ) a day.  Think i should be ready to up it to 60? which would be one whole grain - have you experienced any side effects....i'm just taking it to lose weight and haven't really lost any yet?

Thanks

I see now that this is usually referred to a "Naturethroid" (except by the pharmaceutical company that makes it).  This was why I wasn't finding much about it on the Internet, apparently.  It does appear to be a real drug!  Yay.
