Need help...Side effect question

I hate being a whiny person, cause I truly believe Levothyroxin (generic Synthroid) has helped in some ways. However, I am not sleeping, because I hurt. My ankles hurt, my legs hurt, my neck hurts and my arms hurt. There is some swelling on the top of my arms near the elbow. Now this hurt, is not unbareable, it is not extreme, but it is enough that it keeps me awake at night. Is this normal? Does anyone else experience this? I have been on the drug for a month now. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos disease after they did many tests, and also found a goiter, and found that my thyroid was not doing its work. I am uninsured, so am paying my way thru all this testing, set up on payment arrangements. I was very thankful the medication was affordable. I am trying not to go back to the doctor so I thought I would see if anyone is experiencing, or did experience this?  If it is a common side effect? I am hoping it goes away in time?

O dear girl! I understand what are you going trough. I have the same problem and pains all over my body. I cannot sleep too. But I am 1 year after TT due to thyca. I am 34 y.o. female. I personally think that pains come from thyroid meds. I never had this problem with pain before. I was on Synthroid for 9 month and now I am on Levoxyl (112 mcg for thyroid replacement therapy). My pains started 4 month after I started to take Shyntroid. I went to 4 different doctors and they all think ...that pains and aches all over the body comes from my low TSH (0.02). Please check your TSH level and go from there. I wish you a good luck. I really hope that we'll feel better soon. God bless, Sveta.

I had muscle aches and pains earlier this summer when my TSH was too high. I wasn't on Synthroid during that time. Went back on Synthroid. It lasted a few weeks till the Synthroid kicked in.

My TSH is high again (no meds), but I'm not doing ANYTHING physical, and don't have the aching. Well, my whole abdomen hurts, but not my limbs. So I'm not sure if it's your illness or your meds.

Hopefully it will pass soon. You are going to have bloodwork done in a few weeks, right? TSH, free T4, and free T3? You need to have all three done in a few weeks to see if your dosage is working.

Sorry about the insurance thing. Managing your disease will require tests every few months.

Hope you feel better soon.
