Don't take the generic...call your dr and tell him to call pharmacy and request name brand only. Many people have had many problems with the generic meds for thyroid.
Secondly I only see that you have had only 1 test done. There are others you need to have done: TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh, Free T4T4 test, Free T3 and antibody tests to figure out if that is why you are hypo. TPO Ab, Tg Ab, TSI
It is important to figure out WHY you are hypo so proper treatment can be given and what levels you need to be at. Normal ranges have a lot of variance and it varies if you have autoimmune. You should be tested for the first 3 tests every 6 weeks while finding correct dosage.
Most importantly: if your doctor doesn't specialize in thyroid, find a thyroid doc to treat your thyroid. You can keep your PCP for everything else, but it is imperative to get specialized treatment for your thyroid so you do not get out of control and sick like some of us here. Preventative is always best.
