Hello. I was newly diagnosed with Hypothyroidism in late June. I originally went to my endo because I thought I was going through early menopause (I'm 32, but that runs in my family). My TSH was at 6.10 so my Endocrinologist put me on 25 mcg of levothyroxine. I started feeling better after the first 2 weeks of taking it. things that I had just always lived with. My energy level picked up and I didn't feel like I needed a nap all the time, my skin on my hands stopped peeling, my nails started growing again and I just felt better in general. the best thing is that the "brain fog" I was associating with menopause is SO much better!
I was also doing really well with losing weight until this all started. Last year I was at 215lbs and in 6 months I got down to 179. Mostly just counting calories, not even excercising. Then when this all started, I began gaining if I ate anything over 1000 calories per day. Now I'm back up to 203. Could this be because of my thyroid?
Now, 3 months later, I'm tired all the time again, my skin is once again peeling and my nails won't grow for anything (they keep breaking and peeling) I went for my scheduled blood work on Friday and my TSH was 2.98. Could this still be high? I am waiting to hear from my Dr., but am just curious.
