No Thyroid, no way to get medication

If he world as we know it were to end and you had to live off the land, is there anything I could take if I could not get any more thyroid medication?

An additional note is that I at one time had and over active thyroid and so the Dr.'s recommended I kill it with radio active iodine, I found out too late that a acupuncturist might have been able to regulate it with treatment, so I cam completely dependent on the Levothyroxin I am taking at 88mcg. So hope this helps you help me.

You are so right TiaJean, if I survive the disaster would hate to die because I can't find any thyroid meds. and you can't stock pile them because Dr's will only give you prescription for a small time frame. What would you recommend I do? So from what I am reading there is nothing over the counter that I could stock up on?

I am going to assume k9kat007 is a prepper (for some type of major disaster that would take down production/distribution of needed medications) and is trying to get ahead of the game with meds and/or alternatives. Just thought I'd put that in there as from the way the question is worded, that is what it sounds like they are talking about.

No, if you couldn't get thyroid medication, you would eventually get very ill and die.  There are  no natural supplements or anything that you can take to produce hormones.

If you don't have it, because you can't afford it, there are free clinics in most counties of the U.S that will provide or help you get it. Check out your County Health Department.

Well not sure where you live in the world, but If you are in the states and have access to a local county medical clinic or facility I would recommend that. synthroid generic is on most Walmart, Walgreens, grocery store, and pharmacies $4 medication list for a month's supply. There is nothing natural that you could take to supplement for a lack of thyroid hormone and without it you could end up hospitalized or even dead from a lack of thyroid hormone.
