Nodule Pain or so I think????

Does anyone else have a painful, tender nodule?  To me, it feels like a hard hunk of glass is rubbing around in my neck, right above my clavicle and next to artery.  Sometimes, it is so creepy feeling that it almost makes my stomach queasy.  It hurts to palpitate the area.  Sometimes it feels like a tooth ache, sometimes sharp and sometimes dull and rubbing around in there.

I've been bounced from Doctor to Doctor, specialist to specialist.  The only thing in my entire body that is abnormal (I've had the imaging) is a 1.2 cm nodule, right in that spot.  Every Doctor says, "the nodule can't be the problem."  I'm now getting bounced to a Rheumatologist.  I've had sed rate, autoimmune, etc. done from other Doctors....all negative, so I'm not sure what they can possibly do for me.

I'm so frustrated!!!  My Endo even contacted someone at Mayo to see if they'd ever experienced nodule complaints like mine.  The answer was "No."  Do you think I'm "barking up the wrong" tree and need to move off the nodule theory?  Like the rest of you, I just want to be cured.....now :)!!!

Thanks for your responses.  I know my muscles are involved as they are extremely tight.  I've been in Physical Therapy making progress but I have a long way to go.  The Endo thought it felt slightly larger on one side but he didn't use the term "inflammation."  I asked about the nodule rubbing or irritating my muscles and he said it wouldn't do that.  To me, that is what it feels like.

The irritation has been going on for one year and the muscles are so tight in my throat that my first rib is pulled up under my clavicle.  All those muscles are used in breathing so I've had a lot of problems in that area too.  I feel like I'm the "that would never happen" case but it HAS happened.  It never goes away....24/7.....it is boaring away.

Rellyrooly:  I hope your Endo is wrong and everything comes back with good news.  Please let us know what they find.  I'll send good thoughts your way.

Yes, the inflammation is actually how they found mine.  I went into the Dr. for something else and she felt my throat and noticed the swelling in my thyroid.  She only felt the nodule and swelling on my right side but it turned out that I have a total of 3 nodules; 2 on right and 1 on left.  I have been biopsied and I should hear back hopefully today although my endo is pretty sure that I am malignant.  UGGHHHHH!!!

How about inflammation?  I went to endo because of inflammation on right side, but they found about 6 nodlules and a 2.9 cm goiter on the left.  When I get anxious it feels like my throat and upper chest get real tight.  If I can stay calm, I don't feel anything.

I, too, get discomfort from my nodule.  I wouldn't explain it quite the way you do, however.  Mine feels sore, almost like a dull throb.  It definitely isn't fun though.  I feel like it flares up more after US's and any kind of examination.  Sometimes it just comes on for no reason at all and then goes away.  I talked to my endo about it and he thinks it is caused from the nodule actually pressing on a muscle in my neck and that it is actually the muscle that is hurting.  Sounds plausible to me...
