Hello! To start off, here's some background info:
- When I was born (premature), the doctor told my mother to periodically keep an eye out on my thyroid levels. They were originally abnormal during the first time they checked it, but then they were back to normal the second time around.
- My neck area always appears as if something is protruding from it, which prompts my health professionals to ask, "Your neck area looks really large; do you have hypo-/hyperthyroidism?" but then they always tell me the results are normal.
- My mother takes thyroid medication for hypothyroidism. In the past, she discovered a large goiter, which had surgically removed in 2002. So, possible family history? But I'm only 22.
On 6/20, I had blood work done, and these are my thyroid values:
Free T4: 1.34
Thyroxine (T4): 11.2 (indicated as high)
Total T3: 3.14 (indicated as high)
TSH 3rd Generation: 2.380
My mom, as a nurse, was slightly concerned, but couldn't figure out why the TSH was normal but the thyroxine & total T3 were elevated. My hair has been falling out since the last week of January, in which there is a bald spot the size of my palm along with general hair thinness. But in the end, my doctor didn't mention that these values were "high," and my mom just said, "Oh, just keep an eye on it."
Of course I'll be thrilled if there's nothing going on with my thyroid, but as a nursing student, are there any other reasons for these "high" values? I don't take any medication except Adderall 20 mg twice a week.
Thanks in advance for any answers! I think I have my blood work results attached.
