My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 8 months without success. My ob/gyn started testing last month, as it doesn't appear that I'm ovulating. One of the tests was a TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh test, and my level came back at 5.51. She ordered a second round of blood work last week & TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh came back at 3.379.
My ob/gyn said that the levels are "NormalNormal saline flush" and wants to move on to Clomid to see if I ovulate. I'[ve read that optimum TSH is between 1-2 for pregnancy. I feel strongly that my TSH levels may be the cause of my anovulatory cycles and want to resolve this before moving on to Fertility Meds.
TSH is elevated. I would look into the thyroid before going on any fertility meds...have a complete panel done. Insist on the doc checking your Free T4 and your FreeT3. Even mild hypo can interfere with conception, and if you do get pregnant and still have a thyroid problem it can be very dangerous for the baby!!!
