Maybe no consolation to you but I was hyper with Graves, had RAI due to heart issues then TT as Cancer was found in the thyroid. That was 2008.
Since then I have gone back to very high pressure work, had my best friend die 6 months ago, my father die a painful death 2 months ago, got anaphalactic shock on Sunday and start a new job today so there is HOPE for you yet lol.
I am NOT a strong person....just determined that 'I have graves Disease...it doesnt have ME'.
Do I feel normal?
Define normal?
I feel alive, I feel good, I feel bl@@dy GREAT!
Keep your chin up, research all you can and be your own advocate to your health.
If the Docs/Endo say 'you are fine' and you dont feel fine..argue the issue.
Dont always take Docs/Endos as 'gospel'.
Good luck with your job :o)
(((hugs))
I feel great on a daily basis...I mean, I don't feel like I did when I was twenty, but all my hypo symptoms are gone. I've been on meds for over two years. The first year was a constant adjustment period trying to up my dose (I'm extremely sensitive to meds changes). Then, I finally found what worked about a year ago, and I've been on the same dose ever since.
Plenty of diplomas for sure...the thing is that these days with the internet and all, you can well surpass many doctors' knowledge on a specific topic in about half and hour. You don't even have to be near a medical library anymore.
Sounds like a very rough week...on the bright side...any merit to getting it all over with all at once???
'I started a new job' - all the more fun hu?
There's several here that just did that too. And my levels are wacked like yours. Can you say 'chalanging'?
For the record, I started a new job, had a baby, had miniscus surgery and now this.... all in the same WEEK!! So this has been tough. If it wasn't for the ringing and the tiredness, shakyness it wouldnt be so bad.
How do you feel on a daily basis? You have been on medicine for a year. How do you feel?
As my dad said - There are plenty of diplomas.... Someone was #1, someone was #931!
The short answer is YES, you will feel well again. However, this is the time to muster all the patience you can because if you think it's going to happen yesterday, you're going to be very disappointed. Adjusting meds so that you feel well is a trial-an-error process and just takes time...there are no shortcuts. A really knowledgable doctor is also a tremendous asset (don't let the diplomas fool you...some of them don't have a clue about thyroid). It took me over a year to get to the dose I'm at now and have been at for over a year. I was hypo, I went hyper...part was crappy doctors. When I decided to take control and learn everything I could and make my own decisions, the meds adjustment process only took a couple more months.
But, yes, do know that there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel...
I posted the same question for those whose had a thyroidectomy. Due to not having a gland, the symptoms can go either way, based on the the dosage of the med's. For me, my symptoms have been hypo and it can get rough sometimes, but i am a faithful believer in "trouble don't last always" and there are surely better days ahead.
