You've attached to a very old thread (2007) and most of the previous posters are no longer active on the forum, so it's unlikely that you'll get a response.
You should go to the ER and get checked out to find out where the blood came from.
Read there are studies that connect iodine definciency to fibroid breasts as well as thyroid problems. Stated that 90 years ago when they started adding iodine to salt that high percentage of population had goiters. Wonder why we never hear about this stuff?
Endrocrinologist are my least favorite doctor...A nodule showed up on a ct scan of neck and its going to be 12 weeks before I can get in to see one. In the past week the nodule has become visible on neck and this morning I had about 1/2 tsp bright red blood from throat.
I figure if can wait that long to get checked out then I will either live or die with NO help from medical world.
Have really bad fiber cystic breast disease, in both evenly, and a recurrent ganglion cyst on inside of left wrist. Recently had cysts (one on each side) on my chin, but the one on the right took over my whole lower face. Did not have any on my thyroid at time of RAI that I know of.
Had to put in my 2 cents worth, also, even though it didn't mean anything. Oh, BTW, just remembered that I do have 2 small recurrent cysts in other places on left side. Hey, what's with this left side?

I don't think I have any other cysts, but you know me - I had to make a comment on THAT ultrasound. Between my two boys, I had a miscarriage. The sent us in for an ultrasound. I had never had an ultrasound, let alone one of THOSE!! When they pulled the thing out and explained what they were going to do, my husband (ex now) said "Don't go asking for one of those for Christmas!!!". I know he was trying to make light of an emotionally painful time, and it honestly did make me laugh. I'll never forget that comment, that's for sure!!!

I went to the er about a year ago thinking I had a kidney stone. Ct showed " free floating fluid" in my belly, they did one of THOSE ultra sounds ( did they make you have a full bladder with it?) tons of fun..anyway found out that I had had a cyst on my left ovary which had ruptured. was told it would be really sore for awhile but was better then having to have surgery for it.....
btw.....if a have an ovary cyst that ruptures...make sure they put you on an anitibiotic
Thanks for all your replies! :)
I'm running a similar question on another board and getting pretty much the same answers from thyroid folks there. Interestingly enough, a lot of them also have issues with cysts and/or symptoms primarily on the left side of their bodies. Hrmmmm.
Would love to find a study where folks with both thyroid issues and cysts get nutrition blood panels run. Wondering if there's any correlation, since many of us with thyroid issues are iron, vit D, and/or iodine-deficient.
Thanks again!
I have an ovarian cyst in addition to my thyrod cyst. Wonder if they are related.
I had a very large breast cyst drained in June, and the ultrasound revealed many others. I was just getting over the anxiety about that when the complex thyroid nodule was discovered. I was wondering if there was any connection and did a PubMed search, but didn't turn anything up.
I do have a cyst on my L ovary and probably a mild case of pcos (polycystic ovary syndrome). I don't know about any cysts in my thyroid but I had so many nodules at least one of them may have been cystic. Interesting how they are all on one side of your body. I wonder if it has anything to do with coming from the same layer or developing section while you were still an embryo. I had a quickie trans-vag done when I went to a fertility specialist a few years back. I know how big your eyes must have gotten. I'm glad you got an answer and that it's not fibroids.

On the trans u/s .. OUCH for me 8yrs ago when my son was high-risk I had to go to NYCity Med Ctr to see world-reknowned Doc there whenthey found a huge cyst (baseball sized) on my son inutero at 5 mos prego. He did the trans u/s for 1.5hrs .. said he would not let me go home until he had a diagnosis ... well, the DX was good news that he would hold on until term and was hence born healthy and only needed a bowel resection at 12weeks old to correct a problem he was born with, but I COULD NOT WALK FOR 2 days afterwards!!!!!! 1.5hrs trans and 1/2 hr regular .... he was backed up to the hilt in the waiting room but what a doc that day .. he said he didn't care about the waiting room until he had a firm diagnosis as I was at 20 weeks preog and he owed it to not only me but the baby he said :) .. There are some great Dr's out there .. just finding them is another story.

YES, I have history of cysts on ovary/and or tube but thankfully they burst and no surgical intervention was needed. However, I was on the 3mo plan for ultrasounds (not 4-6 ??) .. then again mine wasn't huge, but wasn't tiny either and was considered medium I think.
When it burst I was relieved but the pain was searing .. almost went to ER thinking it was gallstone or appendicitis .. difference being the pain only lasted a few mins and went away and then into cramps. I had an unrelated CT Scan done for kidney stones that next mo. and the cyst "was" gone.
Also, I have had cysts on my kidney but they have disappeared too.
I am overdue for mammogram ... I better get moving on that.
Sorry you have to be on the watch and wait train right now .. stinks, eh?

wow that so weird. Since you said that I just had my thy. removed 5.2cm nodule/goiter left. Had a cyst on left breast and found a cyst on left side of my spine. The dr thinks its a fatty nodule? So that is alittle weird. My nodule they removed was a cold complex nodule. It was causing problems so it was for the best. I hope things goes good for you!!!:)
