Cheryl,
After I had my surgery, I also was put on antibiotics. One of the nurses referred to them as "Mega-antibiotics". So I guess I was getting some really good stuff!
Cheryl when I had my surgery they put me on antibiotics anyway in my iv.I guess they didnt want to tkae chances cause they were cutting my sternum to get out the goiter.
Hang in there sis you are almost there.
Love Venora
Much better this AM. May have just been irritation from something small moving along. They say something as small as a grain of sand can cause pain or if it has a jagged edge, can cut along the way out even if tiny. I am relieved that this AM proves better vs. worse. I'll keep an eye on things.

BTW, I am on Extra Strength Tylenol round the clock from this root canal and who knows what it really feels like in the *stone or UTI dept* ....... I suppose if the pain progresses into true kidney stone movement they would do pain killers, but luckily I've never gotten beyond strong anti-inflammatories and mild renal colic.
Today while driving in the car I felt nausea for no reason .. it crossed my mind something was up but dismissed it as I don't dwell on this stuff. Then some chills on/off the past few days .. again just chalked it up to stress and the root canals, etc., etc. and getting over a cold.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooo that is the answer to the pain meds and I would think the answer would yes if needed. Hey, what better place to pass a stone the hospital, right << wink wink>>.

Oh my gosh girl, will you just get better long enough to get that thyroid out?!?!
Hey, if it helps, I had my last thyroid surgery with a bad case of the flu and a sinus infection. I was on antibiotics and the anesthesiologist and surgeon knew (but knew it had to be done on that day) so they were fine with it. They both told me NOT to tell the hospital staff though.
Hey, if I can get an anesthesiologist to "vacuum" out my sinuses during surgery so I won't cough when I wake up (Ewwwwwwww!), maybe you can get yours to look the other way while you pass a kidney stone! Call your surgeon's office and talk to them.
HANG IN THERE!! Can they give you pain meds BEFORE the surgery??
